At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. It is with profound sadness and outrage that we condemn the recent tragic incident in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region, where seven lives, including that of a 23-day-old baby girl, were lost due to Russian shelling.
The incident occurred on Sunday in the village of Shiroka Balka, as artillery shelling struck a family, claiming the lives of a husband, wife, 12-year-old boy, and the innocent 23-day-old baby girl. Another resident lost their life in this senseless act of violence. Furthermore, two men were killed in the neighboring village of Stanislav, with an additional woman sustaining injuries.
This incident is a stark reminder of the devastating toll that armed conflicts take on innocent lives, leaving families shattered and communities torn apart. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people during this difficult time.
The attack on the Kherson province comes amidst a backdrop of ongoing tensions and clashes in the region. We call upon all parties involved to prioritize the protection of civilian lives and adhere to international humanitarian laws. The loss of innocent lives, including that of a newborn, is an egregious violation of human rights and underscores the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
As a human rights organization, Nordic Right urges the international community to condemn such acts of violence and to redouble efforts towards achieving a lasting and peaceful solution in Ukraine. We also call for an impartial investigation into this tragic incident, ensuring that those responsible for these grievous violations are held accountable.
In the face of these heartbreaking events, we reiterate our commitment to advocating for human rights, peace, and justice. The world must come together to prevent further loss of innocent lives and to ensure that the rights and dignity of all individuals are protected.
