At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. Today, we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and the residents of Lviv city, as we strongly condemn the recent drone attack that has caused alarm and distress in the region.
Reports emerged that Western Ukraine came under an air raid alert, commencing at approximately 00:00 GMT. The Ukrainian Air Force, in a Telegram statement, expressed deep concern about the continued threat posed by Iranian-made drones, stating that “the threat of Shahed [Iranian-made drones] remains in the Lviv region. Air defences are operating.”
The situation escalated further as multiple waves of drones attempted to strike targets within Lviv city, starting around 01:30 GMT. The residents of Lviv were subjected to the harrowing sounds of numerous explosions as air defenses valiantly intercepted these incoming unmanned aerial vehicles.
Mayor Sadoviy later reported that an industrial warehouse had caught fire as a result of the attack. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene to tackle the blaze. Initial reports indicated that one person had been injured in the incident, as the mayor revealed on Telegram. The victim, a man in his mid-20s, was discovered beneath the rubble of the warehouse and has been transported to a hospital for medical care.
As of now, the full scale of the attack and the extent of the damage inflicted remain uncertain. Regrettably, there has been no immediate comment from Russia regarding the incident.
Nordic Rights strongly condemns any acts of violence that endanger the lives of innocent civilians and undermine the principles of peace and security. We call for a swift and transparent investigation into this distressing incident, and we urge all parties involved to prioritize the protection of human lives and adhere to international humanitarian law.
Our thoughts and solidarity go out to the people of Lviv, and we stand united in our commitment to advocating for human rights, peace, and justice in the Nordic Region and the world at large.
