At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. Today, we stand in solidarity with the victims and their families affected by the recent tragic incident in Eastern Ukraine, where a missile struck a distribution center, resulting in the loss of six postal workers’ lives and leaving 16 others injured.
The missile attack took place late on Saturday night, targeting the Nova Poshta sorting office in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed this tragic event through his Telegram account, sharing images of the building with shattered windows, highlighting the destruction caused by this horrifying act.
Kharkiv’s regional governor, Oleh Syniehubov, has revealed that all the victims were dedicated postal workers, diligently serving their community. This senseless act of violence occurred when 22 individuals were present inside the building, marking a horrifying moment in the ongoing conflict.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly, with investigators, criminologists, and forensic experts conducting examinations of the deceased individuals. The victims, whose ages ranged from 19 to 42, suffered grievous injuries, including shrapnel wounds, as a result of this missile strike.
It is essential to emphasize that the Nova Poshta distribution center was a strictly civilian facility, solely dedicated to postal services. Kharkiv’s regional governor expressed his outrage, stating, “The Russians have inflicted more terror on Kharkiv’s peaceful population.” This act, which targeted a civilian establishment, underscores the disregard for human life that we vehemently condemn.
As the situation unfolds, President Zelensky has assured the public that a rescue operation is ongoing, with emergency services working tirelessly to provide assistance and support to the victims and their families.
We urge the international community to take note of this incident and demand a thorough investigation into this tragedy. It is imperative that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable for their actions.
As of now, Russia has not commented on the alleged missile strike, but it is essential for all parties involved to prioritize the safety and well-being of civilians in any conflict.
Our hearts go out to the victims and their families in Kharkiv, a city that has already endured significant hardship during this ongoing conflict. We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by this terrible incident.
Nordic Right stands firm in its commitment to promoting human rights and condemning any actions that infringe upon the fundamental rights and dignity of individuals. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine during these challenging times, and we will continue to advocate for peace and justice in the Nordic Region and around the world.
