At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. We firmly believe in the importance of justice, peace, and the preservation of human dignity. Today, we express our deep concern over the ongoing human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
On October 27, 2023, President Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan issued a powerful message in support of the Kashmiri people on the eve of Black Day, a day observed by the Kashmiri population to mark India’s occupation of the valley. Dr. Alvi stated that October 27 is a dark day in the history of Kashmir, as it marks the day when India occupied the region and denied the Kashmiri people the right to determine their own fate. He emphasized that India’s actions in Kashmir are in violation of Security Council resolutions.
Dr. Alvi praised the unwavering spirit and resilience of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination, stating, “I salute the resolute struggle of the Kashmiri people, and their sacrifices will yield results.”
Furthermore, President Dr. Arif Alvi assured the Kashmiri people of Pakistan’s support, stating, “We are with you at every forum,” and called upon the international community and media to highlight the difficulties faced by the Kashmiri people.
In a display of solidarity, the civil society and Rescue-1122 organized a rally on Friday, expressing their support for the people of IIOJK and condemning the forced occupation of the valley by Indian forces. Hundreds of participants in the rally carried placards with slogans such as “Kashmir Black Day,” “Kashmir Banega Pakistan” (Kashmir will become Pakistan), and “Kashmiri people have the right to self-determination.”
During the rally, speakers strongly denounced the Indian atrocities and human rights violations in the occupied valley, urging the international community to pressure the Indian government to immediately cease these violations and resolve the issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122, Abrar Ali, declared that October 27, 1947, marked the darkest day in the history of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir when India illegally entered the region and forcefully established its rule, oppressing innocent civilians.
The speakers reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of freedom from the forced occupation of India and the right to self-determination. They stressed that “Kashmir is a region that can be conquered by love, but never by force.” At the conclusion of the rally, prayers were offered for the freedom of IIOJK and Palestine.
Nordic Rights stands in solidarity with the Kashmiri people and condemns the continued human rights violations in IIOJK. We call upon the international community to take decisive action to address the plight of the Kashmiri people and uphold their right to self-determination.
