At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. Today, we condemn in the strongest terms the recent acts of aggression between Russian forces and Ukraine, leading to a dangerous escalation of hostilities that has left civilians in harm’s way.
Reports indicate that Russian forces targeted Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, in an overnight bombardment felt across the country. We are deeply concerned by the use of military force and the resulting impact on innocent lives. The indiscriminate nature of such attacks goes against the fundamental principles of human rights and international law.
While acknowledging the complexities of the situation, Nordic Rights urges all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and peaceful resolutions. The use of ballistic missiles, drones, and other military tactics in populated areas poses an immediate threat to civilians and infringes upon their basic human rights to life and security.
The casualties reported in various regions of Ukraine, including Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia, underscore the urgent need for a cessation of hostilities. Nordic Rights extends its deepest condolences to the families affected by these tragic events and calls for immediate efforts to protect civilians and ensure their safety.
The damage caused to the city’s port infrastructure in the Odesa region is particularly alarming, affecting not only the economic well-being of the community but also the lives of those directly impacted. We stand in solidarity with the people of Odesa and call for swift international action to address the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict.
Nordic Rights also expresses concern over the reported derailment of trains in Russia’s Ryazan region. We call on all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that may further escalate tensions or harm civilian infrastructure.
As an organization committed to human rights, we implore the international community to take immediate and decisive action to de-escalate the situation, protect civilians, and uphold the principles of human dignity and peace. Our thoughts are with the people affected by these events, and we remain dedicated to promoting a world where human rights are respected and protected.
