At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. We stand united in condemning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the tragic human rights violations that have resulted from Russia’s aggression since February 2022.
In the latest development, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s announcement of Japan’s continued support for Ukraine in the face of its conflict with Russia is both commendable and timely. Nordic Right extends its solidarity to Prime Minister Kishida and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who are working diligently to address the grave human rights concerns that have emerged due to this ongoing conflict.
We acknowledge the expressed gratitude from President Zelenskyy for Japan’s efforts to provide assistance to Ukraine. Such international cooperation is essential to ensuring the protection of human rights and the preservation of peace in the face of adversity. The condemnation of Russia’s aggression by both leaders highlights the urgency of addressing this crisis and restoring human dignity to the affected communities.
The telephone conversation between Prime Minister Kishida and President Zelenskyy follows a series of diplomatic efforts, including a planned bilateral meeting during the NATO summit that unfortunately did not come to fruition. Despite the challenges faced in organizing discussions, the commitment to dialogue signifies the importance of cooperation among nations in times of crisis.
As preparations for the upcoming Group of 20 summit in India take shape, Nordic Right urges world leaders to seize this opportunity to stand united against human rights violations and aggression. Prime Minister Kishida’s intention to emphasize assistance for Ukraine and the maintenance of sanctions against Russia is a vital step toward addressing the deep-rooted issues at hand.
Nordic Right acknowledges Japan’s pledge to provide practical assistance to Ukraine, exemplified by the commitment to supply vehicles from its Self-Defense Forces. This tangible support not only showcases international solidarity but also underscores the urgency of addressing the immediate needs of affected populations.
As an organization dedicated to human rights advocacy, Nordic Right calls upon all nations, including Russia, to prioritize human dignity and international law. The prolonged aggression in Ukraine has caused immense suffering and is a stark reminder of the urgent need for global cooperation to ensure a world where human rights are respected and upheld.
