At Nordic Right, we are committed to advocating for and upholding human rights across the Nordic Region and beyond. Today, we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine as we condemn the recent Russian missile strike on a fire station in the Ukrainian town of Izyum, located in the northern Kharkiv region.

This act of aggression, which occurred overnight, has resulted in the injury of at least eight dedicated rescue workers and substantial damage to the facility. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported that the building itself and 13 pieces of equipment were also significantly damaged in the attack. Four of the wounded rescuers are currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.

Such acts of violence not only endanger the lives of those bravely serving their communities but also undermine the principles of human rights, which we hold dear. The safety and well-being of individuals in conflict areas must be safeguarded, and international law must be respected.

While we recognize the complexity of the situation and the challenges faced by all parties involved, it is crucial that all actions taken prioritize the protection of civilians and the respect for their human rights.

Nordic Rights also expresses concern about the use of unmanned drones in recent attacks on the southern regions of Mykolayiv and Kherson. Such incidents highlight the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict and the prevention of further harm to innocent lives.

We call upon all parties involved in this conflict to exercise restraint, engage in peaceful negotiations, and respect international humanitarian laws and agreements. The safety and dignity of individuals affected by the ongoing hostilities must be paramount.

We must work together to put an end to the suffering caused by this conflict and strive for a more just and peaceful world for all. Nordic Rights remains dedicated to advocating for human rights and will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine while supporting efforts to ensure the protection and well-being of all individuals in the region.
