Reports confirm that Ukraine successfully shot down a missile targeting Kyiv on Saturday morning, preventing any casualties or material damage. However, areas close to the front witnessed a surge in Russian attacks, raising concerns for the safety and well-being of the affected communities.
This latest round of strikes coincides with the first anniversary of the liberation of Kherson by the Ukrainian army, a testament to the ongoing challenges faced by the Ukrainian people in their pursuit of freedom and security.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the “heroism” of Kherson, a city “synonymous with hope,” while acknowledging the resilience of the Ukrainian people. He revealed that, from Friday evening to Saturday morning, Ukraine experienced nearly 40 drones and missile attacks, with one aimed directly at Kyiv.
“After a long break of 52 days, the enemy has resumed its missile attacks on Kiev,” stated Sergii Popko, the head of the military administration of the Ukrainian capital, via Telegram.

Latvia’s president, Edgars Rinkēvičs, has rightly highlighted the need for continued Western support for Ukraine. He warns that without such assistance, Ukraine may face defeat, allowing Russia to pursue aggressive actions beyond its borders.
“It is important to actually fight for international peace, and peace in Europe because if we stop Russia in Ukraine, then Russia is not going to be able to challenge other countries,” stated President Rinkēvičs.
