In a distressing turn of events, Al Shifa Hospital, a sanctuary for 15,000 people seeking refuge from the conflict, is now under threat, with conditions worsening as fuel reserves run out, jeopardizing the lives of infants in incubators. The recent air strike on the cardiology ward and the surrounding areas, coupled with the targeting of displaced persons within the hospital, has led to a grave humanitarian situation.
Reports from Doctors Without Borders and the World Health Organization confirm the tragic loss of lives, including two infants in the neonatal clinic, and warn of the potential for more casualties due to lack of water and medical supplies.
